In this image, the artists were interested in exploring the movement of energy, so they focused on two disparate but omnipresent aspects: bay tides and streetlights. Starkweather's black marks are a map of the tidal currents of the San Francisco Bay during a single day. Hughen's drawings are of the antique streetlights that line Market Street.
